Aedas Presents Bharti Parmar

Preview Show Thursday 3 May 2012

5pm to 7pm

Colmore Plaza, Birmingham

Bharti Parmar has produced a site-specific work for the Aedas Studio: a shagpile carpet made from human hair.
This piece is about substitution; by making an intervention within the space and fabric of the studio environment, she has replaced an existing item of furniture in order to make us think again of what we see.
Bharti Parmar is an artist and academic and has exhibited nationally and internationally for 20 years. She studied at the Royal College of Art, London and has a PhD in Victorian material culture.  She lives in Birmingham.
Aedas Presents welcome you to join us at this exclusive invitation only preview show, from 17:00 – 19:00 on Thursday 3rd May 2012.
The show will remain at Colmore Plaza until the end of May. To arrange a visit please email: aedaspresents@aedas.com or 0121 456 1591.

Aedas Presents Bharti Parmar

As we are preparing for the next show - Aedas Presents Bharti Parmar - Bharti is busy finalising her work.

Bharti Parmar has produced a site-specific work for the Aedas Studio: "Shag" is a shagpile carpet made from human hair.  And I'm excited to say that a 'donated' piece of my hair has made the cut (so to speak!):

This piece is about substitution; by making interventions within the space and fabric of the studio environment, she has replaced an existing item of furniture in order to make us think again of what we see.

Arts & Business Cultural Champion Awards

Thursday was the Arts and Business Cultural Champions Award Ceremony where Aedas Presents had been nominated to receive this prestigious award.

Aedas Presents, a project which is only 18 months old, nominated Marcus Wilkins to receive this award as have found his tireless support to be truly inspirational.  The awards ceremony was a night of celebration and spectacle, held at Jaguar Cars’ prestigious visitor centre in Castle Bromwich.

We attended the event with Charlie Levine and Neville Topping, Director of Elias Topping and gentleman behind the success of TROVE.  Neville gave Charlie the keys to the Engine Room of the Old Science and Industry Museum, which has been Troves home for almost 2 and a half years.
